AT&T, Apple, Thoughts

Well, this in from Captian Obvious.  AT&T wants to extend the deal with Apple to be the exclusive provider for the iPhone.  Lets be honest, with just around a year left with iPhone exclusivity, AT&T needs this deal.  I have gotten more dropped calls than fail whales in the past two weeks.  I even live in a strong AT&T zone.  If this deal gets extended we can bet there will be another year of no accountability for the poor service AT&T has been providing as of late.  I really would like to see Apple prance around in thier birthday suit and give us a choice of network.  If you had your choice of network, who would you pick?

But AT&T’s exclusive deal to carry the iPhone in the U.S. expires next year, according to people familiar with the matter, and Mr. Stephenson is now in discussions with Apple Inc. to get an extension until 2011.

  • You are right, I just wish AT&T had some accountability with thier poor service lately. I am writing it off to network upgrades, but that can't last forever
  • The reality of the situation as far as GSM is concerned is that AT&T is really the only choice. T-Mobile in their infinite wisdom choose to go the 1700MHz route for their HSOA service which no one else is on. So that leaves us with Verizon & Sprint. In that case Sprint would win out with me since Verizon does not know how to accept devices as they are and pregered to cripple features under the disguise of security and network reliability. Last time I checked using Bluetooth to send a file to someone else can only be intercepted if someone was within 30ft or not to mention them knowing what and when your sending it. And I'm not even going to start on the lack of WiFi in their devices. Okay, ranted enough.
